Introduction:

introThey are the species of small, bold, predatory carnivores which are mainly found in Africa but also in southern Asia and southern Europe. They are noted for their bold attacks on highly poisonous snakes like have king cobras. The most common and probably best-known are the 10 species of the genus Herpestes, among which are the Egyptian mongoose.

The  family of mongoose also has a member called as meerkat . These are a common spectacle at roadside shows in some places like Pakistan. Mongooses are kept by snake charmers for mock fights with snakes. In the past, in Okinawa, they fight with the highly venomous habu snakes in a closed perimeter were presented as spectator events at such parks, however, the spectacle is less common today.

Body Structure:

body structureThey have short legs and also pointed nose, small ears, and long, furry tails. The claws are non retractile, and in most species there are five toes on each foot. They have  gray to brown fur which is commonly grizzled or flecked with lighter gray.

 Behavior:

They speed and agility are the things on which they depend, darting at the head of the snake and they crack their skull with a powerful bite. The mongoose emits a noise with a high-pitch, which is commonly known as giggling.

They can be largely compatible with humans. However all the species of it cannot be full domesticated.These mongooses are social animals that live in large packs with some about 50 individuals, although these packs are smaller of 10 to 20 are more common.

Diurnal animals, they can be heard chattering to each other for most of the day. They work together in a group to fend off predators, first and foremost they protect their young and elderly. These will not stay in one habitat for more than a week, and when traveling they move together as would birds in flight.

foofIt  is a small animal that has a food of snakes, eggs, nuts, insects and frogs. They can be found in Asia, Africa and were brought over to Hawaii to help control the rodent population. It mongoose is a meat eater. They love to eat rats, chickens, snakes and lizards as their foods. The mongoose was imported to many Caribbean islands to help control the rodent and snake population.It also eats insects, crabs, worms, lizardssnakes, chickens and also rodents as food.
