Sloth is the slowest mammal in the world, the algae grows on to its coat which is furry. The plant gives it a greenish tint that is useful in the trees.The number of long and prominent claws that they have on each front of their foot helps us to recognize them. There are both two-toed and three-toed sloths.

All sloths depends in the treetops for life.Hanging from branches with a powerful grip aided by their long claws is the way they spend nearly all of their time. Sloths even sleep in trees, and they sleep a lot which is about 15 to 20 hours per day.  they often remain motionless even when awake. At night they eat leaves, shoots, and fruit from the trees and then gets almost all of their water from juicy plants.



Sloth is of small size. Its physical characteristics can be defined as  blotchy , pale gray-brown fur and tan colored face. It has distinctive dark band across the forehead and long shaggy hair hangs over the face, which gives it hooded appearance. Each adult male has a unique pattern of yellow color on its back.



The sloth bears when adult may travel in pairs, with the males being gentle with their cubs. They may also fight for food. They always walk in a slow, and a shambling motion, and their feet are set down in a noisy and flapping motion. They know how to of gallop faster than running humans.It s true that they appear slow and clumsy,however sloth bears are very much excellent climbers, including the cubs.They climb to feed and rest, though they do not escape their enemies, as they prefer to stand their ground. Sloth bear mothers carry cubs up to 9 months old on their backs instead of sending their cubs up trees.

They are mostly active at night, the sloth bear is a  very noisy ans busy bear. It pulls down branches to get fruit, digs for termites, or snuffles under debris for grubs and beetles. A sloth bear uses its lips like a vacuum, making rapid, loud “kerfump” noises as it sucks insects from their nests.



When trees are in fruit, mainly during the monsoon season, sloth bears love to have mango, fig, ebony, and many other fruits, and also on some different flowers. However, ants and termites,also  dug out of their cement-hard nest mounds.

The sloth bears also climb trees and knock down on the honey combs, collecting the sweet bounty easily on the forest floor. Beetles, grubs, ants, and other insects are also round out their diet. When there is shortage of food, the sloth bears will eat carrion.
